Film Processing
Jun 16th – Jul 9th 2023, Joint
I consider street photography not merely a reaction to the happenings around us, but also a reflection of our internal state. ‘Film Processing’ is a curated set of images that are a reflection of my inner self, of one dealing with emotions beyond what words could express, a feeling of loss and a sense that something was and is amiss behind the guise of normalcy that blankets our reality. Subconsciously I searched the streets, looking for scenes that reflected the sentiments I could not express and processed them through film photography.
Film is imperfect and tactile, a faithful and un-doctored reflection of the reality before our eyes. As a medium, its demise has long been foretold, yet its character remains unimitable and irreplaceable, much like the character of this city we call home. Film represents a resilient contrast towards the world of manufactured imagery and facades that aims to replace the authenticity of life as we know it.
Through these images you will find calmness, some familiarity, and perhaps some emotional resonance. Sometimes life moves on quickly, and we try to keep pace. What we often forget is that we need to slow down and allow ourselves to process.
